Gamay – freshness, fruit & lightness from the heart of France

Gamay is the main grape variety of Beaujolais in France and is known for its fresh fruit, fine acidity and charming lightness. In addition to the classic Beaujolais, elegant and more profound wines are also made from Gamay in the best Beaujolais crus such as Morgon, Fleurie or Moulin-à-Vent.

Typical for Gamay are aromas of raspberry, strawberry, cherry, violet, pepper and sometimes banana (especially in Beaujolais Nouveau due to carbonic acid mixing). The style ranges from light & fruity to structured & mineral.

🔹 Beaujolais Nouveau / Primeur: Fruity, very light, fresh, for uncomplicated enjoyment.
🔹 Classic Beaujolais-Villages: More substance, juicy fruit & elegance.
🔹 Gamay from cru vineyards (e.g. Morgon, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent): Deeper, more complex, with a mineral note and ageing potential.

➡ Gamay is an ideal partner for light cuisine, poultry, terrines, cold cuts, cheese and Mediterranean dishes.
